Launching a money-making side project is straightforward with the correct guidance.
Kathy Kristof, with her experience reviewing 500+ side jobs, and Cody Berman, co-founder of Gold City Ventures teaching online business startups, offer their insights.
Here are three steps they propose to get a side project off the ground and test its money-making potential:
Step 1: Discover What You Can Make Money From
Starting a side project means figuring out how to turn your “passions, abilities, and possessions” into income, Kristof points out. Your side hustle should fit with at least one of these aspects.
For instance, if you’re into guinea pigs, maybe you could create and sell an innovative cage design. Academic stars might earn by tutoring. You can also make money from your property, like your home, pool, or garden, by listing them on apps like Sniffspot, Swimply, or Neighbor.
Deciding what you want to earn from involves thinking about time commitment. Driving for Uber or delivering food pays based on the time you put in. Something like renting out on Airbnb doesn’t need as much daily attention but does require you to have a space to rent and to maintain it.
